World sailor Sönke Roever and mechanical engineer Dr. Robert Möckel explain how the boat motor works. During the practical seminar, they go through the relevant systems of the boat motor and show these with practical demonstrations.
On many yachts, the diesel motor often has a kind of shadow existence - despite the fact that it is usually the most expensive single piece of equipment. Often, the motor is only installed in a way that makes it moderately accessible, and many owners leave the maintenance to a specialist company. As a result, the expensive, complicated and sometimes oily unit is not inspected in detail.
This is where the practical seminar with mechanical engineer Dr. Robert Möckel and circumnavigator Sönke Roever would like to start and to awaken interest in dealing with the boat motor. The view of the operator, i.e. the yacht operator, will be consistently taken into focus. The structure and function of the motor will only be explained to the extent that is necessary for the practical handling of the motor. The course will be held on five individual dates during the boot trade fair at the exhibition center in the seminar rooms of Hall 10. Two boat engines will be available for the practical demonstration of maintenance work - Volvo Penta and Yanmar.
